Automatic Outflow Regulating Gate is a water pressure controlled gate that operates due to water pressure caused by the changes in water levels between downstream and upstream. It prevents dam overflow thus ensuring safety of the dam and human life surrounding it.

Vertical Lift Gates are gates that moves within a vertical groove incised between two piers. The vertical lift gates used for controlling flow over the crest of a hydraulic structure are usually equipped with wheels. These types of gate are commonly used for barrages and require electricity to be operated.

Radial Gates are hinged gates, with the leaf (or skin) in the form of a circular arc with the centre of curvature at the hinge or trunnion. The hoisting mechanism is either using a cable that is winched up by a motor or hydraulic jack placed on a bridge situated above the piers. Radial gates are designed for wide and unobstructed waterways where a light-weight economical gate with minimal hoist effort to open and close is required.
